This Privacy Policy describes how Reco. ("Reco.", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit recodot.com or make a purchase. Reco. is operated by 16734901 Canada Inc., based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

We take your privacy seriously. We collect only what we need to run our business and serve you well, and we don't sell your personal information to anyone.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact and order details: Name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number, and order history when you place an order or create an account.
  • Payment information: Credit card or other payment details, which are processed directly by our payment processor (Shopify Payments / Stripe). We do not store full payment card numbers on our systems.
  • Communications: Information you share when you email us, contact customer service, or sign up for our newsletter.
  • Account information: If you create an account, your login credentials and any preferences you save.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and browsing data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, time spent on the site, and the date and time of your visit.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: Small files placed on your device to remember your preferences, keep you logged in, analyze how the site is used, and (with your consent) personalize advertising. See section 6 for details.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Process and fulfill your orders, including shipping and returns
  • Communicate with you about your order, account, or customer service requests
  • Send you marketing emails about new arrivals, designers, and Reco. updates — only if you've subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • Improve the website, our products, and your shopping experience through analytics
  • Detect and prevent fraud or unauthorized activity

3. Who we share it with

We share your information only with the service providers we need to operate, and only with what they need to do their job. We never sell your personal information.

Our current service providers include:

  • Shopify Inc. — our ecommerce platform, which processes orders and stores customer and order data on our behalf
  • Shopify Payments / Stripe — processes payments
  • Stallion Express — our shipping and fulfillment partner, which receives the name, address, and order details needed to ship your bag
  • Klaviyo — handles our email newsletter and customer email communications
  • Google Analytics — anonymized website analytics
  • Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and TikTok — advertising platforms, where we may use tracking pixels for marketing purposes (with your consent where required)

We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or regulatory authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Reco., our customers, or others.

4. International data transfers

Some of our service providers (including Shopify, Klaviyo, Google, Meta, and TikTok) are based in or store data in the United States and other countries. By using Reco., you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different data protection laws than Canada. We require our service providers to maintain appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable privacy laws.

5. Marketing communications

You'll only receive marketing emails from Reco. if you've subscribed to our newsletter or opted in during checkout. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or by emailing us at [contact@recodot.com] 

Transactional emails — order confirmations, shipping notifications, return communications — are not marketing and are sent regardless of subscription status, as they're required to fulfill your order.

6. Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: Required for the site to function — keeping items in your cart, processing checkout, remembering you're logged in.
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Marketing cookies: Allow us and our advertising partners (Meta, TikTok) to show you relevant ads on other sites. These require your consent and can be declined through our cookie banner.

You can manage cookie preferences through the cookie banner on first visit, your browser settings, or by emailing us. Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent the site from working properly.

7. Data retention

We keep your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by Canadian law:

  • Order and customer records are kept for at least seven years to meet Canadian tax and accounting requirements.
  • Email subscriber data is kept until you unsubscribe, after which we remove you from marketing lists.
  • Website analytics data is anonymized and retained according to the policies of our analytics providers.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) for all data sent to and from our site, and secure storage through Shopify's PCI-compliant infrastructure. No system is 100% secure, but we work with established service providers to minimize risk.

9. Your rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and similar laws in your province, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate information
  • Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent (including marketing emails)
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your privacy rights have been violated

10. Children's privacy

Reco. is not directed at children under 18, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please email [contact@recodot.com]  and we'll remove it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our service providers, or applicable law. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes we'll notify subscribers by email or post a notice on the site.
